Culture and Public lifeSupporting cultural events enriches the lives of everyone in a community. From concerts in the park to public art on the street, the arts make our everyday lives more enjoyable, more interesting. Nonetheless, communities with strong arts and culture are the communities where talented, creative employees in the role of customers, shareholders, suppliers, contractors, local community members, want to live.
CarnivalsT-home is traditional supporter of the two famous Carnivals in Macedonia, the Vevcani Carnival and the Strumica Carnival. For many years now, the Company has been a friend of the carnival festivity of the town that stretches over the foot of Belasica Mountain, wherein starting from 2008, we are also sponsoring the Vevcani Carnival – promotion of the cult which dates from the pagan times and which is becoming more and more popular, with an aim to continue the tradition. Festivals and concertsMakedonski Telekom is an old friend with the most famous and worldly recognized cultural event- the Ohrid Summer Festival, which every year gathers world known theatre, ballet and music artists. The rich cultural programme, which lasts for 40 days, begins with official opening in the wonderful antique theatre, which was stage for many famous artists such as Jose Carreras, Jessie Norman, the choir of Viennese children, Aldo Chicolini, Julian Rahlic, Ivo Pogorelic, the Russian opera and ballet and many others. In 2009, we continued the friendship that we started in 2008 – support of the Skopje Summer Festival. This event has grown into one of the most recognizable cultural events in Skopje, offering programme that satisfies different tastes. We have provided entertainment and furthered the cultural arts for all citizens of RM through the multi-performance street happening Buskerfest 2009, the International Film Festival “Manaki Brothers” and the Festival of Traditional Values “In Vinica Veritas” which was held for the first time this year. In December, the first humanitarian concert of the young Macedonian star, Lambe Alabakovski, was held with the support of Makedoski Telekom and the funds collected from the tickets were intended for the restoration of the Jovan Bigorski Monastery. In addition, on 18 December 2009, the Company gave its contribution so as to enable the holding of the celebration for the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia on the city square in Skopje, on the occasion of the long-awaited visa liberalization of the country.
