The Ohrid Summer Festival 2012 starts – 15th year now in partnership with the T brand11.07.2012
The biggest partner of the Macedonian culture, the T brand, this year too continues the support of the most significant cultural event in Macedonia and the region - the Ohrid Summer Festival. This partnership lasts for 15 years now and it is aimed at continuous and quality organisation of this festival, which is one of the most prominent ambassadors of the Macedonian culture, art and music.
“We are happy that there are companies that invest in the promotion of young artists and in Macedonia in general, and that exactly those companies are our partners. This long-term partnership is based on trust, understanding and respect” – said the director of the Festival, Elizabeta Jankulovska. This year’s festival will bring to Ohrid approximately 1000 artists, actors, theatre workers, soloists, choir singers, musicians from 14 countries: Russia, Italy, England, Turkey, Albania, Germany, Cyprus, France, Poland, Spain, Croatia, Belgium, Sweden and Macedonia.
In addition to the visitors from the neighbouring countries, during the Festival a great number of tourists are expected in Ohrid, part of whom are art fans that will arrive in an organised manner and with charter flights from Israel, the Netherlands, Belgium.
“We are aware how important the support of one powerful company, such as ours, is for the endurance of these precious events through the years. This Festival is the pride of the Macedonian art and culture – en event that endures for more than five decades and it is a proof of our long art history and tradition. In order to be aware of the importance of this festival, I will only mention that if 50 years ago certain countries were only at the beginning, we had already established art and music and culture. We should be proud, we should nurture what we have and we should build our future” – said Dimitar Kovacevski, Director of Group Communications Area of T-Home and T-Mobile Macedonia.
This year too, the concept of the programme is to include a greater number of new top artistic names that have not performed on the Ohrid Summer Festival before and who are world famous and whose concerts are always sold out.
Of course, in addition to the classical music concerts and recitals, which are held in the St. Sofia Church, as main events of the music programme of the Ohrid Summer Festival, there will be also events aimed at the wider audience. Namely, the programme includes several attractive concerts that are planned to be held in the Antique theatre.
The most important fact of the Ohrid Summer Festival this year is that after twelve years the Festival will be opened with a theatre play and that is the original and first performance of Romeo and Juliet comprising the Russian Theatre, Vera Komisarzevska, the National Theatre of Bitola, the Macedonian Opera and Ballet and the National Theatre of Ohrid, directed by the Macedonian Dejan Projkoski.
The birthday of the Ohrid Summer Festival, 4th of August, when a traditional vocal concert is held, will be marked with the performance of one of the biggest world attractions, the Slovenian vocal jazz band "Perpetuum Jazzile".
