With the support of Makedonski Telekom the Vevcani carnival has begun

On the 12th of January with a party on the improvised fair for alternative tourism and with the performances of Vlado Janevski, Vlatko Stefanovski and the Serbian band “Riblja Corba”, the traditional Vasilica carnival began in Vevcani, once again supported by Makedonski Telekom.

This carnival, which is more than 1400 years old, is organised on the occasion of the New Year according to the old calendar. The major event is held on Wednesday when the masquerade and the related customs begin attended by many people under masks, including the three traditional masks - Court Jester, Bride and Groom and Musicians. The carnival ends on the 14th of January with the Vevcani folk dance and the ritual mask burning.
