Ohrid Summer Festival13.07.2010With the performance of the internationally acclaimed Macedonian pianist, Simon Trpcevski accompanied by the Russian National Orchestra under the baton of maestro Mikhail Pletnev, at the stage of the Antique Theatre in Ohrid, the 50th jubilee of the most famous musical-artistic event in the country, the “Ohrid Summer” festival started.
The spectacle of the opening ceremony at the Antique Theatre was supplemented by segments of plays performed by ten selected Macedonian actors and directed by the famous domestic directors, Ivan Popovski and Zoja Buzalkovska. In its programme, the jubilee retrospective festival offers numerous performances of domestic and foreign artists, ensembles, soloists, chamber ensembles, plays and ballets. During the 40 festival nights, starting from 12 July to 20 August, the art enthusiasts will be able to see 25 concerts, 13 plays, one ballet show and one opera concert, performed at the stages of the Antique Theatre, “St. Sofija" church, Dolni Saraj, “St. Jovan Kaneo” and the Culture Centre “Gligor Prlicev”. In addition, a Monograph will be promoted. At the opening ceremony, the Macedonian Minister of Culture, Ms. Elizabeta Kancevska – Mileska stated the following: “Let us continue this five decades long journey through Wonderland where there is mutual understanding because everybody speak the most universal language in the world- the art. The glorious moments of the future of the “Ohrid Summer” festival are yet ahead of us.” Makedonski Telekom is especially proud of its long-lasting generous, persisting friendship and fellow-travelling with the “Ohrid Summer” festival. |
