According to the results of the company's operation in the first half of 2022, Makedonski Telekom continued to grow and achieve positive results and confirmed its leadership position in most market segments. The sales revenues increased by 8.9 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to MKD 5,9 billion. The earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) increased by 1.3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. However, the effects of the global economic trends and the increase in the price of electricity affected the EBITDA margin, which in the first six months of 2022 decreased to 39.6% compared to 42.7% at the end of the same period of the previous year.

Number 1 in the TV market

Makedonski Telekom maintained the lead in the TV services market with a share of 34.1%. The quality, the unique experience and the attractive offer of MaxTV contents contributed to the increase in the number of customers to 147 thousand, i.e. by 1.7% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Growth in the Internet and mobile services segments

The growth trend in mobile and internet services continued. The number of broadband customers increased by 3.3% and amounted to 200.6 thousand, while the internet accesses increased by 3.1%.

In mobile communications, the company had a market share of 48.4%, and the subscriber base increased by 12.2%. In fixed telephony, we remain in the leading position with a share of 62.2%, i.e. 225 thousand customers.

Great leap in the ICT segment

In the first half of 2022, the use of ICT and Cloud solutions and services had accelerated growth, which led to an increase in revenues from System Integration and IT services by as much as 163.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. The positive trend in the ICT segment is due to increased revenues from ICT projects, such as the Smart City project.

Expansion and development of 5G and the optical network

In the first half of 2022, Makedonski Telekom put into operation the first and the largest 5G commercial network in Macedonia, which is available in more than 16 cities, and is ready to provide gigabit speeds in the larger cities. The company continues to work intensively in the field, and by the end of the year, a total of 26 cities and their surrounding areas will be fully covered by 5G.

The optical network is growing and developing in parallel with the mobile network. At the end of the first half of 2022, more than 260 thousand accesses to optics were enabled, which is 12% more compared to the same period of the previous year.
