• The award-winning initiative “Together for a hate-free internet” is a partnership project of the Foundation Telekom for Macedonia and UNICEF

Makedonski Telekom received an award for its commitment in the field of social responsibility for the “Together for a hate-free internet” initiative. The award-winning initiative is part of a partnership between UNICEF and the Foundation Telekom for Macedonia aimed at engaging children and young people in tackling some of the biggest challenges faced by their generation – hate speech on the Internet. The prestigious award was awarded by the American Chamber of Commerce in North Macedonia (AmCham) and Konekt within the framework of the USAID “Partnerships for Giving” project.

“We are proud of this recognition that confirms our commitment to an equal and ethical digital society. As enablers of the digital world, we have an obligation to be part of the fight against hate on the internet, but also to encourage and engage young people, to give them a voice. This is our strategy and the reason why we started this initiative together with our partners UNICEF. I believe we have touched and inspired many young people”. – said Nikola Ljushev, Chief Executive Officer of Makedonski Telekom.

The initiative takes an innovative approach by giving voice to children and young people to be the creators of change. Thirty young people participated in workshops and created a campaign together with professionals from various fields, which includes over twenty social media videos under the slogan “Goodbye to Bullying”.

Together for a hate-free internet also carries the #GoodMagenta label, which is awarded by Deutsche Telekom, for projects, measures and initiatives with a positive contribution to social and societal challenges in the digital world. The mission for a safer internet space is part of the ESG agenda of Makedonski Telekom aimed to bridge the digital divide, an inclusive digital society and sustainable practices for environmental protection.
