In the first nine months of 2022, Makedonski Telekom achieved growth and confirmed its leading position in most segments of the market. The sales revenues increased by 5.5% compared to the same period of the last year and amounted to MKD 8.8 billion. However, the effects of the global economic trends and the increase in the price of electricity affected the earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA), which decreased by 3.7% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Increased access to 5G and optical network

The first and largest 5G commercial network in Macedonia is now available in 26 towns and their surroundings, and in the larger cities it even has gigabit speeds. The company has intensively and dedicatedly invested and worked on the ground and achieved the plan foreseen by the end of 2022 in terms of providing the customers with wide access to the technology of the latest generation.

The optical network is growing and developing in parallel with the mobile network. At the end of the first nine months of 2022, more than 267 thousand accesses to optics were enabled, which is 11% more compared to the same period of the previous year.

Leader in the TV market

Makedonski Telekom maintained the position of a leader in the TV services market with a share of 34%. The attractive offer of MaxTV contents and the unique TV experience contributed to the continuous increase in the number of customers. In the first nine months of 2022, an increase of 1.8% was recorded, bringing the total number of customers to 147.6 thousand.

Growth in the Internet and mobile services segments

The constant growth continued in both the mobile and the internet services. The number of broadband customers increased by 3.7% and amounted to 202.9 thousand, while the total number of internet accesses increased by 3.5%.

In the segment of mobile communications, the subscriber base increased by 6.9% whereby the number of customers reached 1.3 million. In fixed telephony as well, we remain in the leading position with 226.5 thousand customers.

Accelerated growth in the ICT segment

The trend of accelerated growth and use of ICT and Cloud solutions and services continued, which led to an increase in the revenues from system integration and IT services by as much as 67.7% compared to the same period last year. The positive trend in the ICT segment is due to the increased revenues from ICT projects, such as the Smart City project.
