Makedonski Telekom is continuing with the successful operation and a positive trend of growth also in the third quarter of 2023. Since the beginning of the year, the number of customers has been continuously on the rise, while the focus has remained on the intensive expansion and increase of the network capacity and quality, especially the fibre optic and the 5G infrastructure.

The earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) increased by 11.6 percent as compared to the same period last year, while the net income increased by staggering 29.7 percent. The sales revenues have been steady and they are marked with a growth of the core business revenues of 5.3% in the mobile segment and 4.3% in the fixed segment.

Expansion and development of the gigabit network

In line with our commitment to connect everyone, we are continuing the intensive expansion of the fibre optic and the 5G infrastructure on the entire territory. In the course of the first nine months of this year, the number of fibre optic access points increased by 13% and it amounts to 303 000. This is a result of the plan for a mass migration of the customers from copper to fibre optic in all parts of the country where fibre optic coverage is available. In addition, the expansion of the 5G network continues and now this network is available for use to 82% of the population with gigabit speeds in most towns in Macedonia.

Focus on customer satisfaction

The number of customers in all segments is on the rise, which is a result of our commitment to provide the customers with superior services and with connectivity any time and any place. We remain to be no. 1 according to the TRI*M index for measuring the customer satisfaction which, at the end of the third quarter, marked an increase and it now amounts to 94 points.

The number of broadband internet customers increased by 2.8 percent and it amounts to 208.7 thousand, while the total number of internet access points increased by 2.7 percent.

We remain to be the leader on the TV market with a share of 33.6 percent and a growth of 1.1 percent or 149.3 thousand customers. In terms of mobile communications, the customer base increased by 2.8 percent, whereby the number of customers reached 1.33 million. In fixed telephony, we remain in the leading position with a share of 61.8 percent and 227 thousand customers at the end of the first nine months of 2023.
