The social tariff model of Makedonski Telekom is intended for the social welfare beneficiaries
Social welfare beneficiaries who only need voice services can obtain a free-of-charge prepaid fixed telephone line
In order to activate the model, the user needs a voucher of MKD 150 that can be used within one year

In order to meet the demands of the customers who have different needs and possibilities, Makedonski Telekom has introduced a new tariff model which is extremely favourable and specifically intended for the socially vulnerable group of citizens. As part of the offer, the social welfare beneficiaries who only need voice services can obtain a free-of-charge prepaid fixed telephone line from Makedonski Telekom.

In order to activate the social tariff model, the user needs a voucher of MKD 150, wherein the entire amount of the credit can be used for calls in the course of one year. For this prepaid tariff model, the users are not charged a one-time fee and are not obliged to sign a long-term contract with the company. In the prepaid social tariff model, the prices are equalled with the prices for calls from the standard post-paid telephony. Thus, the prices for local traffic calls during off-peak tariff are MKD 0.71, and during peak tariff they are MKD 1.18.

This prepaid telephone line allows a full control of the costs, where the customer can generate local and national calls, calls to the mobile networks and international calls, just by purchasing top-up vouchers.

The vouchers can be purchased in the Telekom points of sale. After using up the voucher, the customers will be able to receive incoming calls, i.e. to be called in the course of one year as of the activation of the last voucher. Also, they will be able to freely call the emergency services - Police 192, Fire Brigade 193, Ambulance 194 and Alarm Centre 195.

The introduction of the tariff model for the social welfare beneficiaries is an offer which is a result of the legal obligation of Makedonski Telekom AD – Skopje, as a universal service provider, to provide the users who have a status of social cases and the users with special social needs with packages that are different than the ones that are offered to the other subscribers, in order to enable conditions for equal access to and availability of public telecommunications services. At the same time, the tariff model is also supported by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, as an extremely favourable offer that completely suits the needs and the possibilities of this category of citizens. As a result of the support by the Ministry, as of today, in all regional social work centres throughout the country, Makedonski Telekom will distribute promotional materials for the prepaid social tariff model.

With the release of this tariff model in our market, we provide an equal opportunity to all the citizens to exercise their right to basic communication", said the CEO of Makedonski Telekom, Mr. Daniel Szasz.
