Despite the operational challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, Makedonski Telekom achieved positive results in 2020. The trend of growth in the number of customers in the Internet and the TV segment continues, and there is a new positive trend in the ICT segment as well. Sales revenues of Makedonski Telekom in 2020 increased by 2.3% and amounted to MKD 11.085 million. The earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) decreased slightly by 0.6% compared to the previous year.

Positive trends in the Internet and TV segments

In 2020, the internet and TV segment continued to grow. The broadband internet customer base increased by 4.7% and reached a total of 213.8 thousand, resulting in 2.7 percent revenue increase.

Makedonski Telekom maintained its leadership position in the TV segment, with a share of 33.8%. In 2020, Makedonski Telekom strengthened its leading position by increasing the number of TV customers by 4.5 percent, reaching a customer base of 142.5 thousand.

Extremely high growth in the ICT service segment

This year, the use of ICT and Cloud solutions and services continued to grow, which led to an increase in revenues from System Integration and IT services by as much as 63.3 percent compared to the previous year. This continuous positive trend is a result of the accelerated digitalization which has set new conditions for doing business. The quality of the ICT services, as well as the solutions and data security offered by Makedonski Telekom, position it as a partner for business digitalization.

Network investments in the conditions of accelerated digitalization

Over the past year, continuous investments were made to strengthen the capacity of the network to meet the growing digital needs of both private customers and businesses. The investments in the fibre-optic network led to increased number of households covered with access to the fibre-optic network. At the end of 2020, Makedonski Telekom provided access to fibre-optic network to 39.2% of households in the country, i.e. more than 221 thousand households can use the benefits of the fibre-optic network, which is 12.8% more compared to the previous year.
