Makedonski Telekom and T-Mobile remain on the leading position in the first quarter of 2014 as well. The increasing trend of the internet and IPTV segment continues, whereas the revenues from voice services are decreasing.

The sales revenues at Group level in the first quarter of 2014 amounted to MKD 2,650 million, which represents a decrease of 13.4% compared to the same period in 2013. The operating expenses in the first quarter of 2014 decreased by 15% compared to the same period of the previous year, whereas the total capital investments (CAPEX) amounted to MKD 150 million. The net profit before taxation decreased by 11% compared to the same period of the previous year.

However, despite the negative trends, according to the internal estimates Makedonski Telekom has a market share of 66% in the fixed line segment and a market share of 52.2% in the broadband internet segment.

Despite the revenue drop in voice services, the revenues from internet and digital television via Internet protocol (“IPTV”) increased by 3.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The focus on the double and triple play packages resulted in an increased number of DSL customers by 7.2%, resulting in DSL customer base of 189 thousand in the first quarter of 2014.

Makedonski Telekom has the biggest share on the TV market amounting to 21.7% (internal estimate). The number of IPTV customer increased by 26.8% compared to the same period of the previous year. As a result of the high quality service, the interactivity and the unique TV experience, the customer base reached 91 thousand customers.

In the mobile telephony, despite the fierce competition, T-Mobile Macedonia remains a market leader with a market share of 47.2% (internal estimate) and 1.2 million customers.

The mobile voice revenues decreased by 21.7% in 2013 as a result of the decrease of the tariffs. The trend of increased usage of mobile services continues, where the packages include more and more minutes for the same price. That resulted in the increase of the Minutes of Use (MOU). That in turn led to the decrease of the Average Revenue per User (ARPU) by 21%.

The revenues from non-voice services decreased by 13.1 compared to the previous period, as a result of the decreased number of sent SMS messages, the decreased SMS interconnection prices and the decreased content revenues.

Such revenue drop is partially compensated with the increased mobile Internet revenues and the increased use of data tariff plans.
