World Bank and Ziklin Center at the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania announced the winners of their global competition „Ideas for Action“ (Ideas4Action).

One of the seven winners in the competition of 4,000 teams is the young team "Something Unordinary" that participated in the national Generation Unlimited Youth Challenge, which is a part of the partnership between the the Foundation Telekom for Macedonia and UNICEF.

Their innovative solution is the mobile application - Walkiie that enables the families and friends of people with disabilities to connect with volunteers, who organize social activities for them.

"We are very happy for the success we have achieved, which is not only ours, personal, but also a success for the whole country. We are grateful for the opportunity and the support we received, and we are very happy that the application will really help people with disabilities " - said Elena Bozinovska from the Something Unordinary team.

The Generation Unlimited Youth Challenge invited young people to create innovative solution as an answer to the question “How can digital technology contribute towards a more active inclusion of children and youth in education and everyday life?”. In addition to funding, the teams received mentoring support from engineers, IT and marketing specialists.

"It was a great honour to work with such a team of young people, who are volunteers themselves and clearly saw the need for such an application that will make a difference in the quality of life of people with disabilities " - said Boro Petkoski from Makedonski Telekom, mentor of the team Something atypical.

This is the second major recognition for young teams from the Digital Inclusion initiative. Recently, the e-Bionics team won the Generation Unlimited Youth Challenge 2019/2020 , in the category overall winners under 18. Their solution - Venus Arm is a 3D printed bionic arm for people with upper limb deficiency.
