Another year has gone by full of challenges that we all faced – the citizens, the businesses and the economy. The pandemic has not receded yet, but I sincerely hope that there will be a more moderate effect on the health and lives of people, as well as a recovery effect on the economy. However, such recovery will take place gradually and with small steps under the pressure of the high inflation.

Both on a macro and micro level, in addition to the inflation, we will also have to face the energy crisis, caused by the high prices of fuels. These negative trends will have a domino effect on many businesses, such as, specifically, in the telecommunications industry, in terms of the procurement of electronic components. Nevertheless, we cannot expect a miracle; the last two years have literally changed the world and, thence, even the slightest growth is a positive trend that brings optimism.

In addition to all the challenges, we are rounding up the year with a growth and with positive results in all spheres of operation. Furthermore, according to the AEC report on the electronic communications market in the third quarter of 2021, Telekom is the leader in the category of mobile and fixed telephony on the telecommunication services market in Macedonia. The successful results from our work are a confirmation and an incentive to continue investing in state-of-the-art technology and the best possible services for the customers.

Ahead of us is an exciting year, both from a business and from a customer point of view. Definitely, 2022 will be remembered as the year in which a new industrial revolution will start in Macedonia. Makedonski Telekom will certainly launch the first commercial 5G network. This technology will not only bring a new era in technology, but it will also change our lives completely. We will continue developing the smart city platforms, especially having regard to the fact that 5G will open up the true potential of the Internet of Things, the technology which constitutes the foundation for smart cities. In parallel with the expansion of the 5G network, we will continue expanding also the fibre optic network throughout the entire country. The new technologies which will be in our focus will contribute for a faster and complete digitization of society, but they will also be one of the tools that will help us in the fight against climate change.

Next year we will once again put a strong focus on ensuring a top digital customer experience, digitization of the internal operation processes and digitization of the businesses. Digital transformation is no longer just a necessity, but an utmost priority, and it will remain to be the direction in which will head in the future.

In the new year I wish for the pandemic to subside and for the economy to grow, for all of us to have more time for our families and loved ones, as well as a balance between the private and the professional life, while for Telekom I wish that it remains to be the leader and to continue providing a top customer experience.
