Every summer on the Ohrid coast, history, music and culture merge with the rich international program of one of the most prestigious domestic cultural events - the Ohrid Summer Festival. This year's 61st edition of the festival opened with a ceremonial performance of the ballet gala concert “The Great Tchaikovsky”.

The opening of the 61st Ohrid Summer Festival was dedicated to Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, whose compositions could once again be heard on the Ohrid stage. The premiere performance featured scenes from some of the greatest works of the most famous Russian composer, such as “The Nutcracker”, “The Sleeping Beauty” and “Swan Lake”, united under the homage called “The Big Tchaikovsky” performed by the National Opera and Ballet and the conductor Bisera Chadlovska. The combination of distinguished artists and the notes from timeless musical compositions once again confirmed why the Ohrid Summer Festival is considered one of the main promoters of high art in the country.

This year the audience in Ohrid will enjoy the rich program of the festival consisting of over 500 performers from 18 countries with theatrical, instrumental and vocal performances by distinguished artists.

The organization of this year’s iteration of the Ohrid Summer Festival is once again supported by Makedonski Telekom, the longtime friend of this cultural event that promotes domestic and world art.
