Increased revenues from internet and digital television by 3%
172 thousand DSL customers, which represents a growth by 7% compared to 2011
66% growth in IPTV segment, which resulted in 67 thousand MaxTV customers at the end of 2012

Makedonski Telekom AD - Skopje and T-Mobile Macedonia kept the leading position on the market last year, despite the strong market environment, as shown by the consolidated financial results for 2012 in accordance with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). In 2012 the increasing trend of the internet and IPTV segment continues, whereas the revenues from voice services are decreasing.

In 2012 Makedonski Telekom retained the leadership position with 73% market share in the fixed segment and 54% share in the broadband internet segment, according to the internal data. The revenues from internet and digital television in 2012 have increased by 3% compared to 2011.

The number of internet customers last year increased by 7% compared to the previous year of 2011, as a result of the focus on double and triple play packages, which resulted in 172 thousand DSL customers at the end of 2012. Despite the fact that the revenues from voice services in fix segment have decreased by 6% compared to 2011, Makedonski Telekom with 296 thousand customers retained the leading market position in 2012.

In 2012 Makedonski Telekom marked excellent results in the digital television segment. Hence, last year the number of MaxTV customers increased by 66% compared to 2011, resulting in a total number of 67 thousand subscribers of the IPTV service. Makedonski Telekom became a market leader with its MaxTV service. The increase of the MaxTV customers is a result of the exclusive TV contents, high quality service, interactivity, large number of channels according to the needs of the family members, as well as the unique TV experience that provides a crystal clear picture in HD.

“One more successful year is behind us, a year in which we achieved excellent results, especially in the broadband internet and digital television segment. While others are waiting for the crisis to pass, we did not waste time, we strengthened the cost management and we invested. In 2012 we made MKD 5.2 billion capital investments because we are aware that only in that way we will manage to strengthen our position of technology leaders and to gain additional competitive advantage. We are working in a serious competitive environment, but we are many steps ahead of them. With the experience we have behind and the capacities we possess, there are no limits for us. The innovations and quality are not our only recognisable trade marks. What differentiates from the others is the fact that we are always ready to learn, to change and to improve. Therefore, this year we will use all the available capacities in order to strengthen all segments of our operation. We will focus on the provision of new and attractive TV contents, we will complete the network modernisation, we will work on the extension of the optics, we will offer new B2B and ICT solutions in accordance with the world trends, and adjusted to the needs of the consumers", said the Chief Executive Officer of Makedonski Telekom, Mr. Daniel Szasz.

The intense competition in the mobile telephony caused revenue decrease in the mobile telephony which is a result of the decrease of the customer base. Nevertheless, despite the severe price war, with 1.2 million subscribers in 2012 T-Mobile Macedonia is a leader in the mobile telephony, reaching a market share of 48% according to the internal data.

The Macedonian customers show an increasing demand for data transfer in accordance with the world trends. Hence, T-Mobile Macedonia has increased the sale of smart phones by 80% compared to 2011. According to the data, approximately 45% of the smart phone users are also active users of mobile internet. In 2012 the number of mobile internet users with subscription has increased by 159%. The expansion was caused by the company’s policy to provide smart phones and mobile internet at prices affordable for every customer.

The total revenues of Makedonski Telekom and T-Mobile Group for 2012 are in the amount of MKD 13.8 billion. The net profit of Makedonski Telekom and T-Mobile Group for 2012 is in the amount of MKD 3.8 billion.

“This year will be a year of changes, a year in which we will have to adjust to the market in order to ensure stability of the revenues. We will be prudent and we will be predicting the potential risks. We will focus on the strengthening of the segments that will ensure not only a development but also additional revenues, thus compensating primarily the losses from voice services. The achievement of the 2012 Plan is a factor that will motive us this year, but it will be also a solid ground for undertaking strategic steps whereby we will be able to face the challenges. In any case, we will give our best for the benefit of our customers, for the benefit of the society in which we operate and we will prove ourselves as trustworthy and fair business partners”, said Mr. Slavko Projkoski, Chief Financial Officer in Makedonski Telekom and T-Mobile.
