Over 161,000 DSL customers at the end of 2011, which is 6.7% more than in 2010
There was a growth of 33.2% in the IPTV segment, which results in 40 thousand customers
Smart phones generate 20% of the total sale of handsets

Makedonski Telekom AD – Skopje and T-Mobile Macedonia, despite the strong competitive environment, remain leaders in the segment of fixed and mobile telephony and show a significant growth in the internet segment, all the while following the vision for creating a gigabit society and providing internet access for every family. This is the result of strongly positioned business plans of the T companies in Macedonia and an operation that is in compliance with the market and worldwide movements, and primarily the following of the customers’ needs.

Makedonski Telekom retained most of the market share, even 76% in the fixed telephony segment and a substantial market share of 57% in broadband internet; T-Mobile remained on the top with a share of over 50% on the mobile telephony market, estimated internally.

The focus of Makedonski Telekom on the double and triple play packages at the end of 2011 resulted in more than 161 thousand DSL customers, which constitutes an increase of 6.7% compared to 2010. More than three years ago, Makedonski Telekom imposed new high standards in the digital television offer with the MaxTV service. In the past year, the T-Home brand achieved exceptional results with the IPTV service with 40 thousand customers, which is an increase of 33.2% compared to 2010. This increase is a result of the high quality service, the enriched contents and packages of channels for various groups of customers, as well as the unique TV experience provided by the MaxTV service – control in the hands of the customer.

The severe competition in the mobile telephony, especially in the segment of pre-paid and business customers, caused a decrease in the voice retail services in the mobile telephony in 2011. In accordance with the world trend, the Macedonian customers have an increasing demand of data transfer which had a positive impact on the total revenues from the mobile segment. Approximately 20% of the total handsets sold are smart phones, which is an indicator of the growing customer needs of data transfer and internet usage in general.

We will continue to invest because this is the only way in which we can continue to move forward and prosper. The modernisation of the mobile network is a pre-requisite for providing our customers with fast and secure flow of data and video contents via mobile internet. It is expected for this year to be marked by the increased use of smart phones and devices, which implies an increase in the use of the mobile internet. Our task is to make it available to an increased number of customers”, – said Mr. Zarko Lukovski, Chief Executive Officer of T-Mobile Macedonia.

The net income of the Makedonski Telekom and T-Mobile Group for 2011 is MKD 4.9 billion. “Our success depends on the success of the entire business climate in Macedonia. We are very happy that we contribute for motivating and strengthening of the business of our partners, and our capital and investments help the achievement of higher goals - creating a network of worthy market players and contributing to the presentation of the country before the international community. We met the expectations of our customers and shareholders in 2011.
